Vacation Rental Stays On the Rise in 2013

VR

It seems that more and more travelers are seeing the value in vacation homes. According to the results of TripAdvisor’s 4th annual vacation rentals survey, 49% of U.S. travelers have stayed or are planning to stay in a rental home in 2013. That’s up from 46% in 2012 and 40% in 2011. The biggest driver for going this route over staying in a hotel is savings, especially for those traveling with a large group. And 82% of travelers surveyed feel they can find great last-minute deals as well. Plus, there are benefits like full kitchens and laundry rooms, and a more spacious, family-friendly stay.

Other survey results:

  • -53% say that they’d most like to try a beachfront villa vacation rental
  • -89% prefer a vacation rental on a family vacation
  • -25% would be most tempted to book if the rental has a private beach
