The 5 Best U.S. Airports for Shopping

Maybe you want to treat yourself before a trip. Maybe you’re seeking a last-minute souvenir. Or maybe you just want to use up the leftover funds in your travel budget. Whatever your reasons, airport shopping can be a great way to indulge in retail therapy while on the go. (And you might even be able to rack up airline points on your credit card while you’re at it…)

To find out which U.S. airports offer the best shopping options, we asked the experts: our traveler community. Based on a recent survey of more than 114,000 U.S. TripAdvisor travelers, the first-ever Travelers’ Choice Favorites awards for U.S. Airports honor the 5 best domestic airports for shopping.

  1. Portland International Airport (PDX), Portland, Oregon

TripAdvisor traveler tip: Look for internationally-known, locally-based brands like Columbia Sportswear and Pendleton Woolen Mills without worrying about being overcharged. PDX features “street pricing,” where the pricing found in their shops matches the price found at each company’s sister stores found in other parts of town.

  1. Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), Findlay, Pennsylvania

TripAdvisor traveler tip: Want to do your holiday shopping at stores like Lacoste, Pandora, and Tumi but don’t have a boarding pass? No problem – every holiday season PIT hosts a Holiday Open House and lets the general public into the airport. Note, you’ll still need to go through security and bring a government-issued photo ID.

  1. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), Minneapolis, Minnesota

TripAdvisor traveler tip: MSP was the first airport to bring the shopping mall experience to an airport, found in Terminal 1, with options like locally owned Hammer Made for high-end men’s shirts and accessories, Headphone Hub and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. You can even stop by the Chiroport for last minute chiropractic treatment before departing.

  1. Orlando International Airport (MCO), Orlando, Florida

TripAdvisor traveler tip: Heading home empty-handed from Orlando’s theme parks? You’ll find lots of places to grab last-minute souvenirs, including Disney’s Earport, the SeaWorld Store and the Universal Store. Visit the Kennedy Space Center Gift Shop to touch a piece of an actual meteorite from Mars!

  1. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia

TripAdvisor traveler tip: Travelers say you can find the best shopping in the newer Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal, which hosts top retailers like Kiehl’s, the Luxury Boutique and Tommy Hilfiger.
