New TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Eco-friendly Hotel Program Launches

Planning a greener trip just got easier. TripAdvisor just launched the new TripAdvisor GreenLeaders program, which ranks hotels across the U.S. according to their engagement in environmentally-friendly practices like linen and towel re-use, recycling and composting, solar panel and electric car charging station implementation, and green roofing.  Developed in partnership with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the United Nations Environment Programme, TripAdvisor GreenLeaders makes finding a more eco-friendly stay a piece of cake.

With the program in place, you can now tailor your search and choose your stay based on a simple ratings system: Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum which will be easily seen on the accommodation’s listing. Plus, soon you’ll be able to comment with your thoughts on a hotel’s green practices after you’ve stayed – a good way to pay it forward and help others to plan their perfect greener trip.
